Dec. 1998-Jan.1999: The blithering Idiots meet the Gibbering Mouther: Continues on from the previous adventure

After the escape from the Dwarf Complex, the party found themselves in a series of natural caverns. In one of these caverns, what appeared to be a pile of dirt was really a pair of gibbering mouthers. These nasty beasts were nearly the end of our valiant heroes, in fact Winfield was added to the list of casualties.

A huge monster with writhing tentacles was encountered shortly after the gibbering mouthers. The party was planning to avoid this horrible beast when Josephine noticed that it had one of the crystals that is needed to seal up the portal. So against everyone's best interests, a battle occurred. The medical and spiritual skills of Unrau proved themselves once again.

At about this time, an extra appendage was found growing on Torg. On anyone else, this would have been considered strange. Josephine the Ranger caught a bad case of brain damage.

As the party traveled through the underground passages, they encountered many strange creatures, including humanoids with lumps moving under their skin, and some type of trolls. They eventually met and allied with King, the king of the Mykanids. He pointed out the way to the end of the quest; unfortunately it led through a wall-of-flesh. The wall-of-flesh would have consumed Torg if it weren't for the valiant heroics of the rest of the party. The wall-of-flesh was rendered into an inanimate pile of rotting meat and the party had a chance to rest and heal their wounds. An extra eye was discovered on the top of Torg's head.

The encounters came fast and furious, including a multi-legged, four-eyed beast with brains floating in its translucent abdomen. Phil fired one shot with his sling, puncturing the beasts eye, killing it instantly. Josephine the Ranger lost a hand and nearly bled to death investigating a mysterious, magik portal. Fortunately, funds were available to regenerate here hand before she was forced into early retirement. A mighty genie, Straygate, was summoned using a magik ring. She explained how Madris had corrupted the once-majestic elven portals, and how to find Madris for the final confrontation. Madris and his minions were found, a battle was fought, and the mighty heroes were victorious. With some divine interventions, the last cursed portal was closed forever and there was peace in the land once more. The occupants of the underground complex were free and happy and there was a general sense of well-being in the underground land.

But peace would not last long. The noble adventurers returned to Glantry only to find it under siege by the despised Duke Kalinstren. They fought their way into the city and prepared for their next noble deed...
